Short peptides of this kind come mostly from the bioregulator research programme of Vladimir Khavinson and colleagues in St Petersburg. Vilon has been used in cell-culture studies of gene expression and chromatin, and in enzyme and protein-interaction assays. It is among the most frequently cited compounds in that series. Vilon is not an approved medicine.
