LL-37 in innate immunity research
LL-37 is amphipathic and helical, and disrupts bacterial membranes in vitro. Beyond its antimicrobial activity, it is studied as a signalling molecule in innate immunity, including chemotaxis, cytokine release and wound-repair models. It is a common reference peptide in microbiology and immunology assays.
